Meet the newlyweds

Hannah & Dan

Wedding day at MB: 2nd June 2022
Wedding style: Scandi + oh so natural

Why did you choose Manoir Beaulieu?

We wanted a unique venue that felt intimate and elegant. We really wanted our wedding experience to be part of a holiday rather than just one day – this was something really important to us, everyone says how fast the day goes so we wanted to make the most of it and have as much time as possible celebrating with our loved ones. You can’t help but fall in love with Manoir Beaulieu – it’s so beautifully renovated with period features and set within the most magical setting it really was a no brainer.

Describe your overall wedding style or theme:

Simple natural and elegant. We wanted to use natural tones throughout to create an earthy theme – something that felt quite timeless and understated.

How did you two meet - is there a juicy story behind your first date?

We met at university during our final year – through our friends. We then later moved to London together (as friends) but soon became a couple. Everyone pretty much though we were mental but it all worked out and here we are a decade on.

What was your dress goals or inspiration, and who was the designer?

I always wanted something long sleeved. This was something my nana had and she has always been an inspiration to me, I have always loved looking at old photos of her when she was younger. Even though she couldn’t be at the wedding I wanted to wear something I felt she would have really liked. I always knew I wanted a veil but wasn’t set on having something completely lace.

Where did you get your theme inspiration from?

I think naturally we both opt for natural colours and styles – especially for the children I think they photograph nicely and not really something we searched for as such. We use Pinterest a lot for inspiration, we like the idea of using dried flowers as they are something you can keep forever.

The florist was great at finding local material that she could get hold of easily. She also dyed some French linen in a sage green for the napkins and table runners which we think worked really well.

Your wedding feast, what did you eat?

I had a delicious beetroot and squash Wellington with pesto, and pan drip potatoes.

Pork loin for the meat eaters. While the whole day was such a whirlwind we both clearly remember taking a moment to enjoy our dinner and really did enjoy every bite.

What was your first dance song?

Young the Giant – strings

Possibly the most played artist for us over the past 11 years. Our absolute favourite & I think it might have at least another 11 before we find a new artist.

What was your favourite part of the day?

Getting ready with the girls & my mum for me and for Dan getting ready with the boys had to be one of the biggest highlights. Something we will both treasure forever. It’s not often we get chance to spend time with our best friends so this really was such a special time.

Walking into the barn after the canapes to see all our family and friends together was pretty spectacular, after just having a moment just the two of us to take it all in. If felt like we have waited forever for this day and it really did not disappoint.

What do you hope the future holds for you two?

We hope lots more adventure for us as a family, we are currently renovating our very old Dutch house and seeing where the next chapter will be for us.

What wedding advice would you give to future couples?

Do it at Manoir Beaulieu as they take away all of the stress 😉

I think most importantly keep things simple – try not to over complicate things. I think mostly your guests want to see you having a lovely time, enjoying a drink chatting. I think weddings can get over hyped and really it’s just about having the chance to spend time with you loved ones. Try to clear out the clutter and focus on that. As long as the bubbles are flowing and you have great food and music (not to mention a beautiful venue) it will be magical.

Kind words from Hannah & Dan

Wow- so these two know what they are doing. The whole experience of staying at Manoir Beaulieu really will stay with us for ever. Lauren and James managed to bring our wedding dreams to life and somehow make them even better. They really are incredible team. Their work ethic is second to none and we cannot thank them enough for all the effort and love they poured  into our wedding.
